Dr. Prof. SK Singh, Director, BIT Sindri, a great academician, researcher and visionary person in the field of Technical education with illustrated experience of more than 3 decades.

Born on the 21st Day of Aug. , 1952 at Surajpura, Patna, had initial schooling at the village town and had throughout brilliant career in education, i.e. all through First Division. Passed the Matriculation Examination in the Year 1968 ; Pre Science from Patna University in the Year - 1969.

Graduated in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Patna ( previously BCE Patna) in the Year - 1974 ; Post Graduation and Ph.D. again from Patna University in the Year 1987 - & 1993 respectively with CPI 8.1. Grdae A in M.Sc. Engg.

Inspite of large number of offers from various organizations, opted teaching as the career and held several responsible positions in this field in various Technical Education Institutions. First of all served as Asst. Professor in Mechanical Engg. in the Deptt. of Science & Technology, Govt. of Bihar for nearly one decade ( 1978 - 1988), then served as Lecturer in Mechanical Engg. Deptt. of BCE Patna for a short while ( 05 months) and then promoted to Associate Professor and served in this capacity for 6 years (1988 - 1994) and then was promoted to Professor of Mechanical Engg. in 1994 and served in this capacity for 10 years ( 1994 - 2004) before joining the assignment of Professor & Head, Computer Science Studies centre at BCE Patna for short while and then joined another important assignment in the dual capacity as Professor & Head, Computer Science & Engineering and MCA at BCE Patna.

Joined the prestigious assignment of Director, BIT Sindri in Aug. 2006.

Besides these academic positions, also served Patna University & BCE Patna as Asst. Registrar (Academics) ; Asst. Warden, Prof. In Charge Vehicle, Convener IT Cell etc.

Main field of specialization being Thermal Engineering ; Renewable Sources of Engineering ; Programming & Programming Methodology & AUTO CAD.

Successfully guided several Research Projects such as MHRD, Govt. of India project of Modernisation of Gas Turbine & Turbomachine ; Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency Project of Improved Chula Unit etc.

Also successfully guided 02 students for Ph.D. and several students for their M.Tech Projects, besides guiding several other students for their Ph.D. & M. Tech. Published more than Two Dozen papers in reputed National/ International Journals and Seminar & Conference Proceedings.

Life Member as well as Member of large number of Professional Societies such as ISTE ; DOEACC ; Computer Society of India ; Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag. Chair person for various Technical Institutions in the AICTE - NBA Accreditation and had been the key person for phenomenal and quality changes/ upgradation of BIT Sindri and has been an important linkage between the industry & academics.
